With the current annual government spending deficit running at around £175 Billion (i.e. the govt are spending £175 billion more than they are getting in tax) Forsyth suggests a simple solution that will drastically cut this. He points out that half a dozen think-tanks have calculated the cost of the UK's current EU membership at between £80 and £100 billion per year.
Can anyone think of another way of reducing the annual deficit by more than 50% that wouldn't result in huge tax increases or massive jobs losses or massive reductions in national or personal security or lowering educational standards or drastically cutting health services?
